A Morning Wrapped in Mountains
Assalam Alekum, Good Morning, Namaste to everyone reading this. The beauty of this journey began long before sunrise. After riding for hours through heavy rainfall, cold winds, and darkness, we finally reached Minapin village in District Nagar close to 11 PM. It was a day filled with exhaustion, steep mountain turns, slippery roads, and unexpected delays. But reaching Minapin brought us a relief that is impossible to put into simple words.

The peaceful silence, the breathtaking mountains towering in every direction, and the comfort of safe arrival made us forget every difficulty instantly. Morning brought with it a sense of calmness, gratitude and fresh energy. We woke up surrounded by snow-covered peaks, endless green slopes and the soothing sound of water running through nearby channels. It felt like a new beginning.
Our stay in the Roomy Yurts, located next to the Osho Thang Hotel, significantly contributed to this feeling of peace. These are beautifully designed luxury camping tents built at a scenic location where night sky views seem unreal. As the sunlight entered through the roof, we realised how refreshing and spiritually uplifting this environment truly is. This was not just another stop in our journey. It was the beginning of one of the most unforgettable days we have ever experienced in the mountains.
Staying in a Yurt – Luxury Camping in The Heart of Nagar
The experience of spending a night in a yurt cannot be compared to a typical hotel stay. A yurt is a circular tent structure traditionally used by Central Asian nomadic communities, designed to remain warm at night yet airy through the day. The yurts in Minapin are a modern version of this classic design. They are spacious, beautifully decorated from the inside, lined with wooden interiors, and glowing with natural sunlight coming from the top dome window. The moment you step inside, you notice the warm wooden reflections, the circular shape that surrounds your space, and the unexpected comfort that welcomes your entire body after a long and tiring day.
There is something incredibly unique and intimate about sleeping inside a round structure that is made of natural elements, placed directly under the sky in the shadows of the world’s highest peaks. It feels different from a concrete hotel room. It carries the soul of adventure and the comfort of luxury at the same time. In contrast to sleeping bags, basic tents or rough camping surfaces, the yurt provides cozy bedding, proper mattresses, warm quilts, clean furniture, and heating arrangements when needed. At night, when temperature drops, the interior maintains a balanced warmth. During sunset and sunrise, soft sunbeams enter the top dome and gently lighten up the room.
Waking up inside this yurt was like waking up inside a dream built by nature itself.
Breakfast in Minapin – Tasting the Spirit of Local Culture

After a deep sleep and calm rest, the first thing we needed was breakfast. We sat together in the morning breeze, savoring hot tea and fresh local dishes that arrived at the table. Here, breakfast is not just food it is culture. Every village in Nagar has its own traditions and taste preferences, and Minapin is no exception.
We were served a local breakfast specialty called Tianshoro. It looks like a simple omelet at first glance, but the flavour is far more distinct. Made from fresh tomatoes, mountain herbs, and organic local eggs, it carried a taste of simplicity, purity and freshness. The bread served alongside was warm and crisp, while the parathas added a familiar comfort that every Pakistani traveller appreciates.
But the highlight of the breakfast was the homemade apricot jam. Nagar has an abundance of apricot trees, and locals have been preparing apricot preserves for generations. The jam is thick, sweet, fragrant and completely natural. Spreading it on bread with a cup of hot tea in hand, overlooking mountains rising sharply into the clouds, was a serene experience that words will always fall short of describing. That breakfast set the tone for the rest of the day.
Finding the Hidden Rakaposhi Viewpoint – A Secret Shared by Locals

Every great journey has at least one hidden discovery. For us, it was a secret viewpoint that almost no tourist knows about. The owner of Osho Thang suggested this spot to us. According to him, it is one of the finest natural viewpoints in all of Nagar and Hunza, yet surprisingly untouched and unadvertised. This immediately sparked our curiosity. Many great places in northern Pakistan are not found online or in travel guides – they are introduced by locals whose families have lived there for generations.
We prepared ourselves and began riding upward toward this hidden viewpoint. None of us knew exactly how the trail would be, how long it would take, or what the destination would truly look like. All we knew was that this place offered a view of Rakaposhi, Diran Peak and Minapin Glacier from a perspective unlike any other. The excitement began long before we reached the top.
The Off-Road Journey – Difficult, Steep, and Rewarding
The ride to the viewpoint was challenging from the start. The narrow path leading up the mountain was steep, rocky, and physically demanding. As altitude increased, oxygen levels naturally dropped, causing the motorcycles to lose power. There were moments where we needed to stop, rest, adjust, and gather strength. There were moments when continuing felt impossible, and turning back seemed like the easier option but the beauty of adventure lies in the endurance.
Every time we climbed slightly higher, the valley below us expanded in view. Villages that once felt large appeared miniature. River channels that seemed wide became thin silver lines. Roads turned invisible. Clouds drifted inward. For miles, there were no markets, no crowds, no restaurants and no city presence – only nature, silence, mountains, and raw wilderness.
At one point, the steepness was too much for the engines. We had to get off, carefully push, realign the motorcycles, reduce tire pressure, restart and climb again inch by inch. It took strength, teamwork, and patience. Finally, after hours of persistent climbing, we reached the plateau and that was the moment everything became worth it.
The View From the Top – A 360-Degree Himalayan Panorama

Standing on that viewpoint felt like standing at the roof of the world. Never in our lives had we witnessed a scene so dramatic, so vast, and so breathtaking. In every direction lay mountains of unimaginable scale.
Directly in front of us stood Rakaposhi, partially covered with clouds, glowing with snow. Diran Peak sat beside it, elegant and sharp. Beneath them stretched Minapin Glacier, flowing slowly and powerfully like a frozen river. On the opposite horizon, the peaks of Hunza stood like guardians of the valley, reaching higher with every mile. Below them, entire villages appeared like tiny specks scattered along green slopes.
Clouds rolled in and rolled out. Shadows shifted over glaciers. Sunlight created silver streaks across the ice. Time almost paused. There was no sound except the wind. No tourist noise. No commercial activity. No shops. No crowds. Just nature at its purest form. We stayed there for hours without realizing how much time had passed. It felt like every minute revealed a new version of the landscape. A place like this is not meant to be visited it is meant to be lived.
Descending and Riding Toward Hunza

With the sun moving slowly behind the peaks, we finally began our descent. The track downward was easier yet equally thrilling. Every curve offered a different frame of the mountains. Every stop gave us another reason to admire the surroundings. From afar, we saw apricot orchards, scattered stone houses, cattle pastures and children playing in mountain streets. Villagers waved as we passed, greeting us with smiles.
After reaching the base, we continued towards Hunza, following the Karakoram Highway along the river. The natural scenery along this route is one of the most beautiful in the world. Before sunset, we entered Attabad. The lake glowed turquoise under the fading light
Night Stay at Attabad Lake – Comfort at Lexus Hunza
We checked into Lexus Hunza, located right beside the lake. The hotel was elegant, calm, comfortable and perfectly designed for relaxation after a long and demanding day. Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished and equipped with soft lighting, comfortable beds, a minibar, clean washroom and access to hot water. The balcony opened towards Attabad Lake, allowing us to enjoy the cool breeze and the sound of water hitting the rocks in the distance.

There is something incredibly satisfying about resting beside a lake surrounded by mountains after spending the day riding through one of the most challenging off-road tracks in the region. The environment allows your body, mind and soul to slow down and breathe.
After settling in, we headed upstairs to dine in the rooftop restaurant. The atmosphere was perfect. Soft lights, gentle chill in the air, beautiful lake scenery and appetizing food aromas made the dinner feel special even before the first bite.
We ordered local dishes such as Chap Shoro along with Green Masala Karahi and Malai Boti. The flavours were strong yet delicate, carrying a mix of spice, warmth and tenderness. Each bite tasted richer because of the hunger earned through effort and adventure. The restaurant environment was peaceful, family-friendly and ideal for late evening relaxation. When we finished eating, we sat quietly for a while, absorbing the satisfaction of the day.
Why This Journey Matters More Than Just Travel
This journey was not just about destinations. It was about inner peace, human connection, cultural discovery and emotional fulfilment. It taught us that silence is sometimes more powerful than words. Humanity is stronger in remote places. Nature is purer where civilization has not yet replaced simplicity. And beauty exists in forms we have not yet imagined, if only we step beyond common routes.
The hidden viewpoints of Nagar have the power to awaken something spiritual inside a person’s heart. It reminds us that life is more meaningful when experienced, not just observed from a distance.
Final Thoughts – Pakistan’s Hidden Treasure
If you are planning to see Hunza, Nagar, Gilgit, or Khunjerab, add Minapin and this secret viewpoint to your itinerary. It might easily become the most unforgettable part of your trip. It is close enough to reach, yet untouched enough to feel exclusive. It offers silence, beauty, culture, and pure connection with nature.
Some journeys are not measured in kilometers or miles. They are measured in the peace they create inside you, and this journey created a memory that will stay with us forever.
